DEVICE AND METHOD FOR ACOUSTIC ENCODING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable encoding of high quality at a low bit rate with short delay. SOLUTION: A down sampler 101 converts input data of a sampling rate FH to a sampling rate FL lower than the sampling rate FH. A basic layer encoder 102 encodes the input data of the sampling rate FL in specified basic frame units. A local decoder 102 decodes a 1st encoded code. An up sampler 104 increases the sampling rate of the decoded signal to FH. A subtractor 106. subtracts the decoded signal from the input signal to obtain the subtraction result as a residue signal. A frame divider 107 divides the residue signal into extended frames longer in time than basic frames. An extended layer encoder 108 encodes the residue signal divided into the extended frames and outputs a 2nd encoded code obtained by the encoding to a multiplexer 109. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
