PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner for electrophotography taking environment and safety into consideration. SOLUTION: The toner for electrophotography which contains at least a resin for fixation and a coloring agent uses, as the coloring agent, a titanium compound and magnetic iron oxide containing substantially no carbon black. The titanium compound is titanium oxide or titanium oxide iron obtained by heating a mixture of titanium dioxide and reduced titanium oxide or a mixture of titanium oxide and metallic titanium in a vacuum. The amount of oil absorption of the titanium compound amounts to≤800 ml/100g and its BET specific surface area to≤100 m<SP>2</SP>. The maximum value of an absorption peak of an absorbed heat quantity curve during temperature rise on a DSC curve of a toner differential calorimeter is found in a temperature range of 50 to 120°C. A two-component magnetic brush developing method which uses titanium dioxide as outer additives is adopted. Thus, nearly the same characteristics as before are obtained as to color properties, fixing properties, stability, etc., and consequently the toner for electrophotography taking environment and safety into consideration and an image forming apparatus can be provided.
