A disk-shaped fixed tilting control element (CE) (11) is countersunk against pressure springs (17) in the casing (15) of an electronic appliance and the CE's surface (20) along with a rounded edge can be reached comfortably by a person's finger. Sensors (18) under the CE make a mechanical link with the CE. An Independent claim is also included for a method for activating sensors by means of a disk-shaped fixed tilting control element.
