PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide metal niobium powder composed of agglomerated particles which has satisfactory filling property into a die at die compaction, hardly causes chips, cracks, etc., at sintering of a green compact and further improves capacitor characteristics and to provide a method for manufacturing the metal niobium powder in high yield at a low cost. SOLUTION: The metal niobium powder is composed of solid spherical agglomerated particles and has≤4,500 massppm×g/m<SP>2</SP>oxygen content per unit BET specific surface area. The metal niobium powder can be manufactured by mixing fine niobium oxide powder and water without addition of a binder to prepare a suspension, atomizing and drying the suspension to prepare niobium oxide powder composed of agglomerated particles, reducing the niobium oxide powder and then applying acid cleaning to the resultant reduction product.
