PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealed electric compressor having a refrigerating capacity according to a change in the outside air temperature or a load. SOLUTION: This sealed compressor comprises a suction passage 29 having one end substantially directly connected to an intake port 19a and the other end opened into a suction muffler 28. In this compressor, since an electric motor 7 is driven at two kinds or more of specified frequencies by an inverter device 212, a supercharging effect is exhibited in addition to rotating speed control, whereby the cooling capability according to the change in the outside air temperature or load can be obtained.
