FIELD EMISSION TYPE ELECTRON SOURCE DEVICE AND IMAGE DISPLAY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stable field emission type electron source device without lowering current even if a long time operation under a high current density is carried out, and to provide a high performance image display that maintains a stable display performance in a long term.

SOLUTION: The field emission type electron source device comprises: a cathode plate 11; an insulating layer 13 formed on the cathode plate 11, and having an opening 12; a lead out electrode 14 formed on the insulating layer 13; and an emitter 15 formed in the opening 12. At least one reducing component selected from hydrogen or carbon mono oxide is doped in the surface layer 16 of the electron emitting area of the emitter 15. The image display includes the field emitter.
