PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner performing refrigeration cycle that exhibits sufficient heating capacity even in a condition in which outside air temperature is very low without reducing COP (coefficient of performance) when performing heating operation in a condition in which cooling operation is performed and outside air temperature is not very low. SOLUTION: A refrigerant circuit 15 for the air conditioner 10 is provided with a first compressor 41 and a second compressor 42. In this air conditioner 10, a first four-way change-over valve 21 and a second four-way change-over valve 22 are operated to switch to cooling operation, first heating operation, second heating operation, and defrost operation. In cooling operation and the first heating operation, the first compressor 41 only is operated, and single stage refrigeration cycle is performed. In the second heating operation, both of the first compressor 41 and the second compressor 42 are operated and two stage refrigeration cycle is performed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
