PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically exfoliate a protection tape even in the case of restart after replacing a take-up reel. SOLUTION: In a protection tape exfoliating method for a TAB tape wherein a tape exfoliating roll 6 winds up the protection tape 7 of the TAB tape 2 to exfoliate the tape 7 in an accumulator part 5 provided with a dancer roll 4 to absorb the difference between a supply speed and a take-up speed of the TAB tape 2 while winding the TAB tape 2 that is supplied at a prescribed speed by a take-up reel 3, detecting a positional variation of the vertically moving dancer roll 4 at replacement of the take-up reel 3 adjusts a rotational torque of the tape exfoliating roll 6 depending on the position of the dancer roll 4.
