PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a time recorder for making it possible for a user side to prepare a special setting card 1 by using a generally used card 10, and executing special processing by using the special setting card 1. SOLUTION: This time recorder is configured to record an attendance or leaving time by inserting a personal time card 10 having an identification code into an insertion port, and to store and tabulate a personal working time. This time recorder is provided with a special setting card preparing system for making a time recorder recognize the general time card 10 as a special setting card 1 for carrying out special processing such as the preparation of a successive card, the change of shift and the erasure of data and the lock and release of setting, and when the recognized card 1 is inserted, each special setting mode is started.
