PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing device having functions for accurately detecting the remaining amount of toner in a toner and developer storage part and surely detecting the amount of the toner even when the amount is increased during the stirring and conveying of the toner and the developer. SOLUTION: The development device used in an electrophotographic image forming apparatus has paddles 8 arranged in the toner and developer storage part 4 for stirring and conveying the toner and strain gauges 10 arranged in the paddles 8.
