PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a learner to learn the writing order of characters of alphabets, HIRAGANA (cursive form of Japanese syllabary) or KATAKANA (Japanese syllabary), etc., and the composition of words, etc., with a single toy body. SOLUTION: The toy for learning is formed by providing a surface 121 of the toy body 12 with character chip compartments 14 for separately storing respective character chips 11 of characters of alphabets 26 so as to be set in array at prescribed intervals in the longitudinal and transverse directions of the toy body surface 121 and providing the surface 121 of the toy body 12 with character code forming means 15 adjacently with a display element 13. When the learner is going to learn the writing order of the alphabet characters or the words, the learner selects and takes one of the character chips 11 out of alphabet 26 characters A to Z stored in the compartments 14 and sets the character chip 11 into the means 15, thereby forming the identification character code of the character chip 11 by the means 15.
