PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high strength copper alloy which has excellent workability and corrosion resistance, has ductility, causes no nickel allergic problem, and deals with a needle testing gauge, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The alloy has a composition expressed by the general formula of CuaZnbTic or CuaZnbTicXd (wherein, X is at least one kind of element selected from Al, Sn, Ag, Mn, Si, and Fe; and, as for a, b, c, and d, by mass%, a denotes the balance, and 0.5≤b≤30, 1≤c<7, and 0.1<d<4, and inevitable elements can be comprised). The alloy is obtained by producing the alloy having the above composition, heating the alloy at 700 to 890°C, performing rapid cooling, and subjecting the same to aging heat treatment at 200 to 600°C.
