PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spacer and manufacturing method of the same capable of simply forming a part having relatively low resistance for preventing electrification at the surface part of the spacer in good state while applying a thermal drawing method with high productivity unlike the previous method. SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method of the spacer by heating at a drawing temperature and drawing a glass mother material having a cross-sectional shape with different for longitudinal and lateral sizes, then cutting it into intended length, the glass mother material is formed into a complex structure composed of a core glass material arranged at an inner layer of the glass mother material, and a surface glass material having a prescribed electric resistance arranged at the area of the surface layer part of the glass mother material at least including an outer surface extending along the elongated direction of the cross section.
