PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mail identifying device allowing a person to determine whether the delivered mail is necessary for the person or not without going to a mail box. SOLUTION: When mail is delivered in the mail box 1, a photo-interrupter 2 detects the mail, and informs a control part 5 of the mail. The control part 5 illuminates the inside of the mail box 1 with a light source 4, takes a picture of the mail delivered in the mail box with a CCD camera 3, and outputs the compressed/encoded image data to an outside interface 6. Accordingly, the person to receive the mail can determine whether the mail is necessary for the person or not by looking at the image data on the mail with a display device etc. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
