The switch device has a housing (1) closed at one side by a cover containing a longitudinally sliding spring-loaded rod carrying a contact bridge cooperating with stationary knife contacts (9) having 2 spaced arms cooperating with an insulated lead wire (15). The knife contacts are arranged in pairs one after the other in the displacement direction of the rod, the housing having a pivoted insertion lever (21) used for pushing the lead wires between the reception slits (14) defined by the knife contacts.
