PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder forming an image of ink drops having a plurality of sizes in which good ejection can be ensured without the sacrifice of the lifetime of a recording head, and to provide a recording control method. SOLUTION: When recording is performed by ejecting ink to a recording medium from an inkjet recording head having a plurality of recording elements capable of ejecting ink liquid drops having a plurality of sizes, the number of recording elements being driven simultaneously is counted among a plurality of recording elements for each of a plurality of sizes of ink liquid drop based on input record data, a pulse for driving the recording elements being driven simultaneously is determined for each size of ink liquid drop based on the count, and then the determined driving pulse is applied to the recording elements being driven simultaneously.
