PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface plasmon resonance angle sensor which detects highly accurately SPR at each angle and measures a specimen characteristic with high reliability, even when an incident angle of a laser beam to a prism is greatly changed, and also to provide a surface plasmon resonance angle sensor which detects the SPR highly accurately by minimizing the influence of non-parallel light or disturbance light even in peripheral light of a reflected laser beam from a metal membrane boundary. SOLUTION: This surface plasmon resonance angle sensor is constituted from a semi-cylindrical prism having a metal membrane formed on the upper surface to which a substrate where a specimen is immobilized adheres, a light irradiation device provided on one outer peripheral side of the prism, for irradiating parallel light at an angle larger than a critical angle with a prescribed width toward the metal membrane boundary on the substrate, and a light receiving device for receiving reflected light from the boundary and outputting an electric signal corresponding to the light intensity. The light receiving device is provided with a telecentric lens enabling only the parallel light in the reflected light from the boundary to be transmitted and received. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
