PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mirror along with its manufacturing method, capable of preventing a visible light from leaking behind, even if a light-shielding film formed on the rear surface side of a base material is heated by a light source lamp for an extended period, while the light shielding film can be formed at a low cost. SOLUTION: A light-shielding film 12 is formed on the rear surface side of a mirror base material 10. The light-shielding film 12 comprises a silicon film. The film thickness at the center part of the base material 10, or the outer periphery, and its vicinity of a support tube 10c, is about 400 nm; while the film thickness of the peripheral part of the base material 10, or near an edge part 10b is about 130 nm.
