PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber cable which has a fine diameter and is excellent in loss property and application, and to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The optical fiber cable is composed of a long-size optical element part 13 which is made by covering a coated optical fiber 3 consisting of a single or a plurality of optical fibers or optical fiber tapes, an intervening bodies 5 consisting of heat-resistant plastic yarn, organic fiber or inorganic fiber longitudinally added so as to surround the coated optical fiber 3, a string 7 made by roughly winding all of the coated optical fibers 3 and the intervening bodies 5 in the lump, and tension members 9 for optical elements arranged in the vicinity of the string bodies and in parallel on the both sides, with a cable sheath 11. In addition, a notch part 15 is formed on the surface of the cable sheath 11 on the both sides of the string 7 of the direction vertical to the direction of connecting the respective tension members 9 for the optical element.
