PURPOSE: A liquid discharge apparatus and a liquid discharge method are provided to control the discharge direction of liquid at every liquid discharge part in the liquid discharge apparatus equipped with a head wherein one liquid discharge part is provided or a plurality of liquid discharge parts are arranged side by side. CONSTITUTION: In a head(11) of a liquid discharge apparatus, a nozzle sheet(17) is combined with an insulation layer(16). A base member(14) includes heat generating resistors(13) formed on a semiconductor substrate(15), and the nozzle sheet has plural nozzles(18). Ink cells(12) surround the heat generating resistors by the base member, the insulation layer and the nozzle sheet. The liquid discharge apparatus is composed of the head wherein a plurality of heat generating resistors connected to one liquid chamber in series are provided side by side in a specific direction, a main operation control unit for controlling to discharge liquid by allowing the current to flow to a plurality of the heat generating resistors connected in series in the same quantity, and a sub-operation control unit for controlling the quantity of the current supplied to the heat generating resistors by allowing the current to flow in across the heat generating resistors through the current mirror circuit or by allowing the current to flow out of the area between the heat generating resistors and controlling the discharge direction of the liquid.
