PURPOSE: An automatic cleanup system and method of air conditioner is provided to detect contaminants, odor or moisture in air and automatically actuate an air cleaner according to degree of contamination. CONSTITUTION: A system includes a contamination sensor(1); a micro computer(2) and an electric dust collector(3). The contamination sensor automatically detect contaminants floating in air and impresses contamination removal signal. The micro computer turns on or off air cleaning function to remove the contaminants when the contamination sensor impresses contamination removal signal. The electric dust collector is actuated by a driving control signal of the micro computer and collects and purifies the contaminants.
