DEVICE FOR RECOGNIZING MAGNETIC INK CHARACTER

PURPOSE: A device for recognizing a magnetic ink character is provided to reduce recognizing time of a magnetic ink character and increase a recognizing rate of the magnetic ink character. CONSTITUTION: A magnetic ink character of a cheque is magnetized by a magnetization device(10). The direct current-magnetized magnetic ink character is reached to a magnetic recognizing unit(20) including a magnetic recognition head. The magnetic recognition head reads the magnetized magnetic ink character and generates a voltage wave form. A voltage value of the voltage wave form is quantized in accordance with a position of the voltage wave form through an A/D converter mounted in the magnetic recognizing unit(20) and stored in a quantization data storage(30). That is, voltage values measured in forty two positions in each character are stored in the quantization data storage(30) as quantization data. A magnetic ink character recognition unit(40) including a microcomputer recognizes the magnetic ink character using the quantization data.
