In a variable pitch spring-loaded V-belt pulley the pitch is controlled by belt tension in response to mechanical adjustment of a cooperating variable pitch pulley or bodily movement of a fixed diameter pulley and the belt 12 is maintained in a constant plane by loading each axially movable pulley flange by separate aligned springs 60, 62 reacting on a common abutment 64 secured to the shaft hub 20. Sliding keys 35, 36 drivingly connect the hub to the inner flange and the two flanges together. The hub 20 is secured on a shaft end by a split coned bush 116 loaded in or out by a screwed collar 118 thrusting on the bush through a snap ring 124. |
