The insert piece (1) for a fuel cell includes a lower half-frame (10) with a peripheral frame (23) and an upper half-frame (20) fitting inside the peripheral frame (23). The peripheral part of the fuel cell membrane (3) is held in a sandwich between the two half-frames (10 and 20), providing a sturdy structure which is easily handled. The insert piece (1) for a fuel cell is intended to be placed between the polar or bipolar plates (30), in order to keep them at a given distance from the base element, the membrane (3) and the electrodes (6). The edge of the membrane is fixed within the inside of the insert piece, the membrane having a greater diameter than that of the electrodes (6). The insert includes a lower half-frame (10) comprising a peripheral frame (23) traversed by functional fluid holes (25), and a support part (14) of reduced thickness traversed by fixing holes (12). An upper half-frame (20) is provided to fit inside the peripheral frame (23), and has clip fitting pins (22) penetrating into the fixing holes (12). The peripheral part of the membrane (3) is thus fixed in a sandwich between the two half-frames (10 and 20). The structure is non-deformable and easily handled. |
