PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To greatly improve the occurrence of a scintillation without adding special devices even with a projector, such as a liquid crystal projector, which is regarded to be approximately a spot light source. SOLUTION: The transmission screen, that uses the projector of a small lens diameter as represented by the liquid crystal projector or light valve, is provided with a lens element 1 disposed on an incident side and composed of an independent or a plurality of lenses 11 for condensing incident light, is provided with an optical element 2 including at least one diffusion layer 21 for diffusing the light past the lens element 1 and is formed by integrating the lens element 1 and the optical element 2 or by forming these elements as separate bodies. The screen is constituted by arranging the optical element 2 with respect to the lens element 1 in such a manner that the diffusion layer 21 is disposed away from the lens 11 at≥3 times the focal length of the lens 11.
