PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bio-artificial organ which is appropriate for a bio-artificial liver and a bio-artificial pancreas and is high in the efficiency of using cells. SOLUTION: The bio-artificial organ includes a first chamber 15 having an entrance 17 and an exit 18 of a body fluid and provided for the perfusion of the body fluid and a second chamber 16 separated from the first chamber by a porous partitioning wall and filled with the cells. At least a part of a passage for the body fluid from the entrance to the exit in the first chamber has a smaller cross-sectional area than the preceding and following parts of the passage.
