<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly assign print jobs in a print server for processing the jobs received from one or more host devices H1-Hn by selectively using a plurality of printers P1-Pm. <P>SOLUTION: A control part 11 monitors the states of the respective printers P1-Pm via a communication control part 26, and stores the results in a printer information storage part 21. When a new job is received, an arithmetic part 22 obtains an energy amount and a time to be required till completion from the present state of each of the printers P1-Pm. A job distributing part 23 assigns the job to one of the printer based on the result. Consequently, the job is completed within a job completion time which is requested to the print job, so that the printer with the minimum energy amount is selected.
