The conditions inside a leather tanning drum (1) are controlled and adjusted automatically. Air is circulated (2) through the vessel and its temperature monitored (4.1 and 4.2) and heated (3). Humidity is monitored (5) and water sprayed if necessary. Chemical products (11) are dosed at the appropriate time in the cycle by spraying into the drum.
