PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a curving operation mechanism for operating a curved part with high reliability and with extra force held down to the minimum. SOLUTION: This curving operation mechanism for an endoscope includes: a curved wire extended from the curved part to curve the curved part provided in an insert part of the endoscope; a pulley provided to interlock with a curving operation lever mounted on an operation part of the endoscope through a shaft part and provided with a spiral drive wire winding groove where a drive wire is wound in the circumferential direction; the drive wire wound in the drive wire winding groove formed on the pulley; a connecting member for connecting the drive wire and the curved wire; and a guide member mounted in the operation part, in which the connecting member is slidably placed. The pulley and the guide member are positioned relatively so that, with the drive wire wound round the pulley at maximum, the extending direction of the drive wire is parallel to the guide surface of the guide member.
