FELINE INFECTIOUS PERITONITIS VACCINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a vaccine effective for prevention and treatment of feline infectious peritonitis (FIP).

SOLUTION: This vaccine for the FIP is obtained by using an N-protein having a specific structure or a fragment thereof as an antigen. The desirable antigen is the N-protein derived from a specified virus type I strain (KU-2). The vaccine containing the N-protein provides preventive effects on wide FIPV. The N-protein is highly safe because of being free from an infection-enhancing epitope. The N-protein can achieve the preventive effects on a virus type I which causes 70% of the actual FIP.
