PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recognize the exact position of a carriage after the restoration of power supply without costing a great deal, enlarging a control device and apparatus, or causing a time lag. SOLUTION: This apparatus is provided with at least a carriage 2 for carrying a work to which a plurality of processes are applied in order, drive sources 3 and 4 for driving the carriage 2 and a travel control section 5 for controlling the travel of the carriage 2, and the travel control section 5 has at least first, second and third memories 6, 7 and 8 for memorizing the travel quantity of the carriage 2 and stores the travel quantity of the carriage 2 in the first, second and third memories 6, 7 and 8 in order and compares the travel quantity stored in the first, second and third memories 6, 7 and 8 with each other to grasp the travel status of the carriage 2.
