An industrial smoothing iron for textiles or fabrics has a rotating gas-heated pressing drum. The gas burner main section (6) is a perforated tube extending partly into the drum and translating to a coaxial first tube forming the first stage burner section. A second-stage burner is formed esp. by a second tube (7). The first- and second-stage burners are linked by an expansion chamber. The second-stage burner has a heat distribution cap.
