PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens barrel wherein a lens group is accurately driven, irrespective of the occurrence of a backlash between a rotary cylinder and a position detecting means. SOLUTION: The lens barrel is provided with a fixed cylinder 1, the rotary cylinder 2 moving in an optical axis direction while rotating around the optical axis with respect to the fixed cylinder, and an engagement part which relatively rotates around the optical axis with respect to the rotary cylinder 2 and also which engages with the rotary cylinder 2 in the optical axis direction. The lens barrel is also provided with: a position detecting frame 3 and a brush 5 whose rotation is controlled so that it does not rotate with respect to the fixed cylinder 1, and for detecting the position in the optical axis direction with respect to the fixed cylinder 2; and a pressing means 3c for pressing the position detecting frame 3 and the brush 5 in a direction of reducing a gap generated by the engagement backlash in the engagement part in the optical axis direction.
