摘要 PURPOSE: A variable phase angle steering system for a steering tilt is provided to improve turning stability of a vehicle by keeping a minimum change ratio of angular velocity to the tilt degree of a steering wheel and to increase NVH(Noise Vibration Harshness) and the durability of a universal joint. CONSTITUTION: A variable phase angle steering system for a steering tilt is composed of a tilt degree sensor(2), a control unit(3), a rotational direction deciding unit(4), a motor driving unit(5), a motor(6), and a RPM(Revolution per Minute) detecting unit(10). The tilt degree sensor detects the degree of tilt into an electrical signal when the tilt of a steering wheel is adjusted by a driver. The control unit receives an output signal of the tilt degree sensor, detects the tilt variation of the steering wheel, outputs a correspondent optimal phase angle, generates a motor control signal, and receives and utilizes an output signal of the RPM detecting unit as a data for controlling the motor in driving the motor. The rotational direction deciding unit decides the rotational direction of the motor to a control signal output from the control unit. The motor driving unit controls the driving of the motor to an output signal of the rotational direction deciding unit. The motor is fixed and mounted to an inter-shaft through a case while a gear formed to a shaft is engaged with a gear of a universal joint(8) and is driven in the direction and RPM corresponding to an output signal of the motor driving unit. In addition, the motor directly varies the phase angle of the universal joint to have phase angle corresponding to the tilt degree of the steering wheel. The RPM detecting unit detects and feeds back the RPM of the motor to the control unit.
