PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a suction box requiring no artificial cleaning despite a small cross section of a water-introducing passage, capable of suppressing the capacity of a negative pressure source as low and easily adjusting the dehydration amount. SOLUTION: This suction box equipped with a chamber 30c maintained at a negative pressure and a water-introducing passage 30h for introducing water content of paper stuff liquid traveling a forming zone into the chamber 30c is provided by connecting an air-introducing passage 31 for introducing outside air to a base part of the water-introducing passage 30h. By introducing the outside air into the water-introducing passage, the paper stuff liquid flows quickly and does not adhere to the inside wall and supporting member of the water passage, because the flowing paper stuff liquid receives collision and vibration with air bubbles. Thus, labor for cleaning the water-introducing passage 30h with hands becomes not necessary, and the cross sectional area of the water-introducing passage can be made small. Since it is possible to speed up the flow rate of the water flowing through the water-introducing passage 30h, the effect of preventing the attachment of the pulp in the paper material liquid to the water passage, etc., can further be improved.
