DISPERSION COMPENSATING OPTICAL FIBER AND OPTICAL TRANSMISSION PATH USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dispersion compensating optical fiber capable of reducing cumulative dispersion and further reducing a value (DPS) obtained by dividing dispersion at a wavelength of 1550 nm by a dispersion slope in the case of constituting an optical transmission path by connecting the dispersion compensating optical fiber to a non-zero dispersion shift optical fiber having positive small wavelength dispersion at a wavelength of 1550 nm.

SOLUTION: The dispersion compensating optical fiber has a dispersion value of≤-100ps/nm/km at a wavelength of 1550 nm and a value (DPS) obtained by dividing the dispersion at 1550 nm by the dispersion slope of≤100 nm. The outer diameter of the optical fiber is 140 to 200μm, and its transmission loss in a wavelength region of 1530 to 1625 nm is≤1dB/km when the optical fiber having a length of specified dispersion quantity is wound in a coil state whose minimum bend radius is 30 to 100 mm.
