SEALING METHOD FOR ORGANIC EL ELEMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reliable sealing method for an EL element where openings(discontinuous parts) are prepared in a sealing material layer and the openings are closed by pressing a sealing sheet. SOLUTION: In the sealing method for an organic EL element, the EL element has an EL layer including an organic light emitting layer on a substrate, and the strip-shaped sealing material layer is formed on the sealing sheet of nearly equal shape with the EL element so as to surround the EL layer. The sealing sheet is placed on the substrate of the EL element so that the sealing material layer is opposed to the periphery of the EL layer of the EL element, and then pressed to be fixed. The strip-shaped sealing material layer has at least one opening(discontinuous part) and the opening is closed by pressing the sealing sheet. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
