CROSS BREEDING UTILIZING AUXOTROPHIC MUTANT STRAIN OF PRACTICAL YEAST

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To establish a method for cross breeding as a simpler and new method for obtaining an elite yeast by using an auxotrophic mutant strain of a practical yeast. SOLUTION: The auxotrophic mutant strain in the practical yeast of a higher polyploid which is conventionally regarded as unobtainable and a type a or a typeαtester strain of a monoploid are utilized to more simply and surely obtain the type a or typeαstrain of the practical yeast. Furthermore, the resultant strains are mixed and selected in a culture medium without requiring nutrients to afford a crossed strain by cross breeding. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
