MAT-SHAPED HEAT INSULATING MATERIAL COMPOSED OF INORGANIC FIBER, PACKAGE THEREOF AND HEAT INSULATING STRUCTURE INCLUDING THE SAME

A mat-shaped heat insulating material composed of inorganic fibers, comprising a heat insulating mat obtained by cutting a fiber laminate composed of piled inorganic fibers in a direction perpendicular to the fibers to thereby obtain cut laminates, rotating at least some of the cut laminates by an angle of 90° in a direction perpendicular to the length thereof to thereby obtain rotary laminates composed of inorganic fibers piled in a direction parallel to the side surfaces of cut laminates, and combining together the cut laminates and/or rotary laminates in a width direction perpendicular to the cutting direction, wherein at least some of the inorganic fibers of heat insulating mat are piled in a direction parallel to the side surfaces of the heat insulating mat. Preferably, the side surfaces of the heat insulating mat consist of inclined planes. Also preferably, the side surfaces of the heat insulating mat have cuts provided in its lengthwise direction so as to enable partial compression of the heat insulating mat.
