PURPOSE: An access contention method for real-time application, and a media access control layer module for the same are provided to give multi-step priorities to stations for supporting real-time application, thereby minimizing delay on voice data. CONSTITUTION: A priority recognizer(110) recognizes priorities on data to be transmitted, and classifies the recognized data. A CW(Contention Window) generator(120) pseudo-randomly generates a CW according to the priorities of the data to be transmitted. A backoff time calculator and backoff processor(130) generates backoff time according to the generated CW, and performs a backoff processing by using the generated backoff time. A collision CW generator(140) randomly generates a CW when the data having the same priorities collide each other while transmitting the data.
