<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that an optical fingerprint reader may determine a forged fingerprint as a genuine if the forged fingerprint, which has the same pattern as a fingerprint, is attached to a finger and then the reader reads it, and to provide a means for certainly authenticating personal identification. <P>SOLUTION: A method to read out the projection and recess form of a fingerprint detects temperature characteristics in heating the body heat of a fingerprint part using a minute thermistor element that heats it and measures its temperature.
