PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance luminance by raising the utilization efficiency of light for illumination sharply. SOLUTION: Two sheets of prism sheets are arranged between a back light device and a liquid crystal panel P (in figure, only one sheet of the prism sheet is shown like shown by a sign 31). These two sheets of prism sheets are arranged by being lapped so that the directions of ridgelines cross at right angles mutually. A bar shaped light source 1 is arranged in the back light device, and the longitudinal direction of the light source and the directions of the ridgelines of the prisms are made coincident.
