PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an optical scanner and a two-dimensional image forming apparatus which can realize higher resolution by using a one-dimensional display element and which can be made compact and inexpensive. SOLUTION: A one-dimensional image is formed by reflecting three or more times light from the one-dimensional display element 2 where a plurality of light emitting parts or light modulation parts are arrayed in one direction in a projection optical system 3. A two-dimensional image is obtained by performing, with a light deflecting means 4, optical scanning on a plane including a direction orthogonal to the arraying direction of the light emitting parts or the light modulation parts in the one-dimensional display element 11. An enlarging and projecting system 5 is arranged for enlarging and projecting the two-dimensional image as an intermediate image as it is. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
