An assembly simultaneously winds-on several bobbins (4.1, 4.2) resting on a common spindle (2). The bobbin cases are retained by an expanding retaining bar mechanisms (3). Each retaining mechanism (3) esp. extends (L) over and retains two or more bobbin cases. Each retaining mechanism set consists of a number of horizontal bars with a mitred corner in contact with a spring-loaded push-bar, and located in line around the spindle. Adjacent sets of retaining mechanisms slightly overlap at their edges (L).
