PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for a paper feeder capable of making dispersion of tip ends of sheets at a collection part small. SOLUTION: The control device for a sheet feeder is loaded on a gathering machine for collecting a plurality of sheets and is made to a box body; a paper feed tray connected and retained to the box body; a paper feed roll 28 rotatably pivotally supported so as to communicate with a downstream side end edge of the paper feed tray; and a paper handling mechanism for separating the sheet fed while superposed and placed on the paper feed tray. Further, the control device of the respective motors 23, 33 of the paper feed device in which a lateral conveying roll 38 for conveying the sheet separated by the paper handling mechanism, a paper feed roll driving motor 23 and a lateral conveying roll driving motor 33 for driving the paper feed roll 28/the paper handling mechanism/the lateral conveying roll 38 and the control means for the respective motors 23, 33 are integrally retained and unitized to the box body have a control circuit capable of separately controlling the paper feed roll driving motor 23 and the lateral conveying roll driving motor 23 respectively. The control circuit is constituted such that it obtains an external signal to be capable of controlling activation/stopping of the respective motors 23, 33, a speed and an acceleration.
