PURPOSE: A linking gap detecting device for an optical recording medium and a method thereof are provided to irradiate a beam to an information recording track of the optical recording medium. CONSTITUTION: A light detecting signal is generated by receiving a reflected light of a light beam irradiated to an information recording track. A synchronous signal is detected from the light detecting signal. It is judged whether the existing interval of the synchronous signal lies within a predetermined interval range. A linking gap is detected on the basis of a result of the judgment.
