A pulse position modulation system uses a higher frequency clock (CLKe) N bit command sequence (G1-Gp) converted using summed output from flip flops (FFi) fed also with time shifted clocks (CLK1-N) spread over the time window from a programmable clock unit (CHP) into a signal to define the pulse position. Independent claims are included for : (1) a wideband pulse generator which can be pulse-position modulated; and (2) a terminal for a wireless network such as a LAN, including a controlled pulse generator.
