Method and apparatus of routing, to each one of M outputs (298), a selected one of N inputs (296). In accordance therewith, N inputs (296) are stored in a first dual-ported RAM (294). An assignment containing an address for one of the N inputs (296) is then generated for each one of the M outputs (298) and stored in a second dual-ported RAM (302). The assignments are then transported to the first dual-ported RAM (294) in ascending order and the selected ones of the N inputs (296) having addresses contained in the assignments are similarly output the first dual-ported RAM (294) in ascending order.
