Antenna unit and radio communication terminal

An antenna unit comprises coil elements 1, 2, 12 and a case 5 arranged to house the coil elements which has at least one opening 8, 11. The opening is formed at positions where current flow is largest and may have a size in the range of 3 to 5 mm. The coil elements, which may be of different sizes, may be connected in parallel, the opening 11 being formed at the joint between them. Alternatively the opening may be positioned at a point 4 where power is supplied to the coil elements. A closure member such as a flap may be located adjacent the opening to be opened when better sensitivity is required. The case may be made of resin such as an ABC copolymer resin. The antenna may be part of a radio communication terminal such as a mobile communication terminal where IC s and other components are mounted and have multi-band communication.
