The invention relates to an installation for checking the mechanical strength and tightness, particularly of parts or semifinished products processed by cold plastic deformation. The installation comprises one or more checking devices (B) which are front-mounted on one or more open ends of some parts (A) having a circular cross-section. The checking devices (B) are connected to an actuating compressed air source (C) as well as to a water source (D), said water being introduced under pressure inside the part (A) to be checked, through a distribution chamber (28). The checking device (B) comprises a sealing flange (6)on top of which there is mounted a pneumatic motor (14) having a diaphragm 15) wherethrough there is driven an axle (8) acting on a gasket (9) on which an end of the part (A) to be checked rests. The water under pressure is introduced inside the part (A) through the distribution chamber (28) and through a central channel passing through the axle (B).
